Substitue Coordinator

When A Substitute/Helper Teacher Is Needed

1.  Planned Absence:
     a. Arrange a substitute ahead of time by posting/emailing a request for date and classes needed.

Contact your helper teacher first, if you are head teacher.

      b. Follow up to make sure your need is filled prior to that week's co-op.

      c. Confirm coverage with other teachers in your class so they know who to expect, especially the head teacher.

Please include getting class lesson/materials to your helper/sub if you are the head teacher.

      d. Notify Substitute Coordinator of which teacher will be filling in for you.

      e. Substitute Coordinator will verify with the class that the substitute teacher arrived to fill your spot.

2.  Unplanned Absence:

     a. Please CALL the designated Substitute Coordinator as soon as possible, especially if this is the day of co-op.

     b.  Please do not rely on email/text, since it is not an effective communication tool for the morning of co-op.
    c.  Contact the head teacher of each class affected so they are aware of your absence.

     d. IF YOU ARE THE HEAD TEACHER, CALL your helper and they will take over your class. Sub Coordinator will then             find a sub to be in the class with your helper. Please include getting class lesson/materials to your helper/sub if           you are the head teacher.
     e. Substitute Coordinator will ask for a volunteer to serve in your absence from those available in the Break Area                that hour.

3.  Contact Information

 a. Home phones and cell phones are best.
